Father Robert Wachter and Father Dan Lorimer will celebrate the funeral mass 10:00 a.m. Friday September 16, 2016 at Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church with burial following at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, under the direction of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home.
The Rosary will be 6:00 p.m. Thursday evening, September 15, 2016, at the funeral home, and visitation will follow immediately afterward.
Cynthia Jo Vietti, 64, of Fort Scott, passed away at her home Wednesday morning, September 14, 2016. She was born October 30, 1951 the daughter of Eugene Dominic and Wilma Dean (Morrison) Vietti.
Cindy attended Girard schools all twelve grades and attended Pittsburg State for two years before entering Mercy School of Nursing in Fort Scott, Kansas, graduating in 1973 as a Registered Nurse. She worked at Mercy Hospital for ten years, and then at Fort Scott Family Physicians for seventeen years. After retiring, she volunteered as an RN for the American Red Cross, and served at several national disasters during her seven-year span. She also volunteered at Mary Queen of Angels for three years helping the pre-school and kindergarten children. Cindy was busy with her grandchildren and their events and loved helping in any way she could.
Cindy was married to Chip Gross from 1973 until 1986, having three children: Jake Gross, of Arcadia, Kansas; Adam Gross, of Spring Hill, Kansas; Casey Robert Gross, deceased at three months old. She then was married to Sid Miner from 1991 to 2007. Cindy is also survived by a brother, William Dean Vietti of Kansas City, two grandchildren, JC Gross, and Benjamin Gross; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends; stepmother, Marilyn Vietti; two stepsisters, Leigh Ann Friggeri, of Kansas City, Maressa Friggeri, of Girard; one stepbrother, Robbie Friggeri, also of Girard; special friend Kenny Austin; and several other special friends Cindy wanted mentioned, Alucia Webb, Annie Cheney, Barbara Haderlein-Key, Becky Roberts, Diane Morris, Donna Lipoglav, Donna Needham, Ethelyn Roberts, Helen Coldwell, Idella Brown, Jana Walker, JoAnn Thomas, Joyce Cussimanio, Lori Collier, Norma Storey. In addition to her son, Casey, Cindy was also preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Richard Robert Vietti.
