Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at the Fort Scott National Cemetery under the direction of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Monday evening 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Eddie Lee Brillhart, 82, of Fort Scott, died Wednesday evening, July 20, 2016 at his home. He was born October 28, 1933 in Fulton, Kansas the son of Eldon Leroy and Jessie May (Smith) Brillhart. He married Opal Maxine Cowan September 12, 1956 in Mapleton, Kansas. She preceded him in death May 15, 2016.
Eddie graduated from Prescott High School, and he served in the United States Navy directly after the Korean War from January of 1954 until December of 1957, receiving the National Defense ribbon, and the Good Conduct and China Service medals. Eddie was self-employed the majority of his career with his own local trucking business. After retiring, he and Opal worked at Corp of Engineer campsites before becoming a bus driver with the Fort Scott School District.
Survivors include three sons, Michael L. Brillhart and wife Peggy, Wheatland, WY; Mark Brillhart and wife Diane, Fort Scott, KS; and Matthew Brillhart and wife Teresa, Independence, MO; ten grandchildren, Jennifer Brillhart, Brooke Campbell, Brianne Brillhart, Megan Brillhart, Cameron Brillhart, Kate Sears, Caryn Hampton, Clayton Brillhart, Hadley Brillhart and Ivy Brillhart; and eleven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sharon Henderson and husband Jon of Mesquite, TX. In addition to his wife Opal, Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Joyce Singmaster, and June White.
Eddie’s brother-in-law, Rev. Jon Henderson, will conduct Graveside services at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at the Fort Scott National Cemetery under the direction of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Monday evening 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to Wounded Warrior and left in the care of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 W.
