John Edgar Goodson, 59, formerly of Fort Scott, died at his home in Carl Junction, Missouri, Thursday afternoon, August 17, 2017. He was born August 8, 1958, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Nolen Junore and Edna Maree (Johnson) Goodson. He married Teresa Luanne Zimmerman May 27, 1983, in Fort Scott, Kansas, and she survives of the home.

 

John graduated from Fort Scott High School with the Class of 1976, and went on to Pittsburg State University, Kansas Newman University in Wichita, and then received his Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Troy University. He served in and retired from the US Airforce.

 

In addition to his wife Teresa, John is survived by his children, Gary Goodson and fiancé Brandi Mettlach, of Carl Junction, Missouri, and Megan Goodson and fiancée Steven Crow, also of Carl Junction, Missouri; a sister, Billee Maree Bunn, of Deerfield, Missouri; and six grandchildren, Chandler Crays, Keegan Mettlach, Lillie Goodson, Nolan Goodson, Owen Goodson, and Rhett Goodson. He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

The Rev. Martin Dickinson will conduct funeral services 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, with burial following at the Fort Scott National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening August 21, 2017, from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, and left in the care of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 W. Wall Street, PO Box 309, Fort Scott, KS 66701. Condolences may be submitted to the online guestbook at konantz-cheney.com.
