John lived with his illness a long time. He did so with Grace and Hope. He was a role model to me in work and in finishing the job. I recall him stopping by the construction site after his swearing in ceremony as an officer in the army. Dressed in stiff Khakis with the gold bar on his headgear he shared his achievement with us. I could see his pride. I am grateful to have known him and to be a part of his family. cousin Bill

Joyce, so sorry to learn of John's death. I have so many happy memories of reunions spent at your home with John, my brother Paul, and the rest of the gang. They were very good times! Please accept my sympathy and love to you and your family.

My dear cousin John. As kids we were inseparable. We read books every day after school; you reading the Hardy Boys and me, Nancy Drew. One Christmas we both got Howdy Dowdy puppets and had a blast being puppetters. Along with the neighborhood kids, we loved playing HORSE (the basketball game). I remember many of our times together as if it were yesterday. As a member of the Cowan cousins we must pay tribute to our Mothers and our wonderful grandma and grandpa Cowan, Anna and Harry. We idealized our older cousins, but they probably teased us a lot. Although we didn't spend time together as adults, thanks to Helen for bringing us together in recent years for reunions. You will be dearly missed by all.

Joyce, Jill, Chris and family, We are all sharing in your sorrow with love, friendship, and support. John was a great friend. I have so many great memories of your dad over the past 40+ years. Whether its trips to Florida, the Alameda Plaza during the Holidays, watching John work on my parent's house when they added on the new addition, Fort Scott Country Club, Chiefs games, KU tailgating on the Hill, seeing John and my dad show up at the fraternity at KU, listening to John's stories or hear him talk about his family, spending time at the Lake of the Ozarks, watching John get so excited to let us listen to a Blues tune that he had found and see him due that little dance with his arms, help at the store, or get insight into a new Food or BBQ place. There are so many great memories of John. One of my favorite memories of John is when he showed up with my father and they had rented a Dune Buggy for all of us kids in Daytona. What a great memory! There are so many aspects of John that will live on through all his friends and family. I'm sure BB King and Bobby Blue Bland are going to be busy for a long time. Love you all! John Mullies

Loving thoughts and prayers for each of you as you mourn John's passing. Even when the time comes, no matter how long expected and awaited, it's never easy to say your final good bye. Though he is gone he will never be forgotten and may you always bear witness to his everlasting place in your hearts as he watches closely over you and directs your daily path.
