Kenton Eugene Cowen, 71, of Fort Scott, Kansas, passed away on February 16, 2023, in his home. He was born August 20, 1951, in Fort Scott, Kansas, the son of Glen Richard Cowen and Freda (Bentley) Cowen.

Kenton served in the US Marines from November 22, 1971, until his discharge on November 21, 1973. After his service he worked as a cement truck operator until he retired. Kenton loved fishing, nature and woodworking. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and riding motorcycles. Kenton enjoyed his retirement to the fullest and spent his time productively to focus on many hobbies and projects, including building a wooden sled for all of his grandchildren to enjoy.

Survivors include his children, Christel Reynaga (Jose) of Fresno, California, Carol Margarian (Mike) of Clovis, California, Kimberly Telegan (Justin) of Ozark, Missouri, Cynthia Whitter (Jack) of Fort Scott, and Scott Cowen (Michelle) of Gardner, Kansas; two brothers, Larry (Sondra) Cowen, and Brad Cowen (Joyce), both of Fort Scott; twelve grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Wayne Cowen.

Rev. Dusty Drake will conduct funeral services at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, February 24, 2023, at the Community Christian Church under the direction of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. A visitation will take place at 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to service time. Burial will follow at the Fort Scott National Cemetery.
