Raymond, I'm so sorry that this accident happened, and that it happened to you. It was terrible waiting, terrible for your loved ones, and for us. You probably wonder what I mean since we didn't know you at all, but it hurt us also. When I say us, I'm referring to we, the people who live at this lake. We worried and prayed for you to walk out of the lakeside brush and be picked up. We worried into the late night and again in the morning, waiting for word that you'd been found and were doing well. I wanted to get out there myself and search every place I thought had been missed. We did search our cove with flashlights, back and forth. We worried about your family and those waiting for your return. I'm sorry we couldn't save you, Raymond. It breakes my heart. I feel like we didn't do enough. It feels like there was terrible trouble in our backyard that we couldn't help or fix or control. I've seen pictures of you, of your friends and family. They are going to miss you terribly. It sounds like you were well liked and loved. You must have been a good friend to many. I'm sure they, along with your family, are suffering without you. But in time they will accept that you are in a good place, that you are making friends and influencing people. And you will forever be protected. I wish we'd had the privilege of knowing you, it sounds as though you brought a lot of joy to everyone you knew, and I'm sure they are better people for knowing you. Raymond, I'm so sorry that your life on earth was cut short, but we'll learn from this and we, too, will be better for it. Please accept our apology for not being fast enough and wise enough to save you. We hope we're never tested like this again. We pray now for your friends, family and loved ones.
