Sorry to hear of Nell's passing Donnie. I knew her before I ever meet you. She was a great lady and encouraged and helped me in my hobby. We always stopped and talked when we saw each other around town. She will be missed and I will never forget her. Sorry I can't come to Fort Scott to be there in person but will be in spirit. God bless you Nell.

So sorry to hear of her passing. As a fellow journalist, Nell was very helpful and inspirational, and knew the cardinal rules of the profession, and practiced them. She could talk to anybody. She often spoke to my Dad, and even sent me some special recipes she had collected when I wrote to her when I lived in the U.S. V. I. A community treasure, for sure.

Linda & Don, I'm so sorry that your Mom has passed. She was one fine lady who always had a big ole smile from ear to ear!! She will be missed by many. A true Fort Scott icon with a beautiful personality. I was in 4-H for about 6 years & she wrote some very nice articles on our activities. Plus, many other news articles of great interest to all! I'll never forget her & I'm sure anyone else who knew her feels the same way. Be Strong & enjoy the beautiful memories of her and her life.

Nell's smile was as sweet as her heart and as big as her many interests. She had the gift of making each person and each group feel like their story was a vital interest to her as to her readers. She wrote about my grandparents & family in Prescott, my grandparents & family in Garland, and about my parents in Fort Scott. I enjoyed visiting with her when she was still writing at the Tribune, and visiting with her when her eyesight had failed. She was a Fort Scott Treasure!
