Wayne Anthony Schwalm, 53, of Fort Scott, passed away September 27, 2017. He was born September 24, 1964, in Fort Scott, Kansas, the son of Ross Boyd and Marjorie Mae (Query) Schwalm. He married Cynthia Ann Stanley September 19, 1987, in Pittsburg, Kansas, and she survives of the home.
Wayne graduated from Fort Scott High School with the class of 1983. He went on to Pittsburg State University where he graduated with bachelors of business administration in 1987. After graduation he became an owner and partner of several Sonic Drive-In’s in this area for 30 years. Wayne was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Osawatomie, KS and was involved with Boy Scout troop #106 and Cub Pack #3099 for 17 years.
One of his favorite activities was attending car shows and working on his classic cars, a 1965 Chevy Impala and Plymouth Barracuda. He enjoyed spending his time off camping and kayaking with his family, friends, and pets. Wayne was a happy man who led a fulfilling life.
In addition to his wife Cindy, Wayne is also survived by his mother, Marjorie Schwalm; children, Sara Schwalm and husband Stephen Fahring, of Kansas City, Kansas, and Tanner Schwalm, of Osawatomie, Kansas; a sister, Diane Lloyd and husband Daren, of Fort Scott; a brother, David Schwalm and wife Cindy, also of Fort Scott; a brother-in-law, Doug Stanley and wife Billie, of Cherokee, Kansas, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will have a visitation Wednesday evening, October 4, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. Rev. Jean Murphy will conduct funeral services 1:30 p.m. Monday October 9, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church of Osawatomie with a visitation beginning at 12:30 p.m. until service time. Burial will follow in the Clarksburg Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Osawatomie, or Boy Scouts, and may be left in the care of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 W.
